TSB is celebrating #GivingTuesday by revealing that its customers have helped raise more than £1.7 million for local causes across Britain since the Bank’s Local Charity Partner programme launched in 2015. Since then, £1.3 million has been raised from fundraising activities and a further £400,000 has been donated by TSB.

#GivingTuesday – marked this year on Tuesday 28 November 2017 – is organised in the UK by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). It is the “day to do good stuff for charity” and people are encouraged to support any charity they want in any way they want. #GivingTuesday arrived in the UK in 2014 and, since then, it has helped raise millions of pounds for good causes.

TSB’s Local Charity Partner programme

Each year, TSB encourages its branches and offices to choose a local charity partner based on nominations received from customers, TSB Partners and members of the public – including charities.

Since 2015, TSB has partnered with nearly 1,000 local independent organisations. This year, a record 27,000 nominations were received to join the programme, which sees TSB Partners from 550 branches and eight office sites volunteer and raise money on behalf of the chosen charities.

TSB also encourages Partners to spend at least a day, when they would normally be working, in their community supporting a local good cause. So far this year around 1,500 TSB Partners have spent over 4,500 hours volunteering in their local communities.

Bola Gibson, Head of Community Engagement, at TSB, said: “Days like #GivingTuesday highlight the important work done by all charities big and small, and how everyone can make a difference.

“We want to thank all of our Partners and customers who have helped us to raise more than £1.7 million for local causes across Britain. Local causes are the lifeblood of the communities they serve and they play a vital role in supporting the daily lives of many thousands of people. At TSB we’re proud to support these local causes, not only in terms of fundraising, but also in raising local awareness.”
