TSB joined Santander on 1 May 2026
You don’t need to do anything
You can continue to bank with us as you normally do. Santander and TSB are working together to create better banking for customers.
There’s no change to:
- Account numbers, sort codes, cards, and PINs
- Direct Debits and standing orders
- Digital, telephone and branch banking
- Customer service and support
- FSCS protection up to £120,000 per eligible customer, per bank
- Our contact details and how we contact you
Watch out for fraud
Criminals may try to steal your money or personal information.
We will never:
- Ask for your password, PIN, or login details
- Ask you to move money to keep it safe
- Tell you to download any new apps related to TSB joining Santander
- Use urgent language like “act now” or “your money is at risk”
- If in doubt, call 159 to securely connect you with TSB
It's now just over a year since we announced Santander's intention to buy TSB and three months since the acquisition completed. I wanted to update you on our progress and, most importantly, reassure you about what it means for you.
The first thing I want you to know is nothing changes in the way you bank with us today.
You can continue using your accounts, cards, Direct Debits, standing orders, online banking, our Mobile App and your local TSB branch exactly as you do now. Our colleagues remain here to support you whenever you need us.
Over the next couple of years, we'll be bringing TSB and Santander UK together as we create one stronger bank for customers across the UK. Our ambition is simple — to combine everything customers already value about TSB with the additional benefits that Santander has to offer.
Throughout this journey, our priority is to make the transition as straightforward as possible. We'll always explain any changes clearly, give you plenty of notice and support you every step of the way.
A commitment to our branches
One thing we’ve heard consistently from customers is that local branches are important.
Whether you visit your branch every week or only occasionally, we know it's reassuring to know it's there when you need it. Branches continue to play an important role in supporting local communities and providing personal help and support whenever customers need it.
That's why we’ve confirmed that we do not intend to close any additional TSB or Santander UK branches before 2028 at the earliest.
We've made this commitment because we want to bring both banks together carefully, giving customers confidence with their banking throughout the integration.
Looking ahead
As we bring the two banks together, you'll begin to benefit from being part of one of the UK's leading banks. Some of these benefits are already available today for you, including:
- No TSB foreign exchange fees when you withdraw cash using your debit card at Santander ATMs in Spain and Portugal.
- Advanced digital security protection that helps keep your money safe.
Our aim is to build on everything you already value about TSB and create an even better banking experience for the future.
We'll continue to keep you updated as our plans progress. For now, there's nothing you need to do, and you can continue banking with complete confidence.
Thank you for choosing TSB and for the trust you've placed in us over the years, I hope to see you in one of our branches soon.
Nicola Bannister
Chief Executive, TSB
