£2 million investment for new TSB flagship branch in Manchester Market Street

14th August 2017

Building work on a new flagship branch in Manchester Market Street by challenger bank, TSB, has begun. The new bank branch will be spread over two floors and feature a combination of face-to-face and digital technology.

Investment in Manchester

The new branch is the third newly-built branch that TSB has opened since launching back on to Britain’s high streets in September 2013, after Aberdeen and Birmingham which both successfully opened last year.

The initial cost of the new Manchester branch will be £2 million. Around 70 tradespeople will be employed during the building phase and there will be around 12 jobs for TSB Partners when the branch is open. This investment in the city will give local customers the excellent service they want and deserve – combining personal service and new technology, as soon as they set foot inside the branch.

New design

The new-look design follows feedback from customers saying they want more TSB partners available to help them with their more complex queries and also more self-service machines1. That’s why the new design provides the latest in smart technology and face-to-face personal banking, all in a convenient location with good transport links.

There will be modern technology, including free Wi-Fi for customers to use on their own devices and seven iPads available for people to log onto TSB.co.uk. TSB partners will be on hand to help and there will be plenty of space dedicated for customers who wish to talk about their banking in comfortable surroundings, including eight spacious meeting rooms and four ‘explore’ informal meeting spaces.

The investment in technology and face-to-face services reaffirms TSB’s commitment that customers should be able to bank how, when and where they want – what TSB calls local banking on demand.

Andy Armitage, TSB’s Branch Director for North England & Wales, said: “Our customers have told us they want the best of both worlds – speaking to us face-to-face combined with modern digital services. That’s why our new branch design combines personal service with new technology. We’ve already had great feedback from customers of our two new branches in Aberdeen and Birmingham and we can’t wait to open the doors to our new flagship in Manchester. We have over 120,000 customers in Manchester so we look forward to welcoming them all to the new branch soon.”
