José Doncel

Non-Executive Director (also Senior Advisor to the Santander Group Executive Chairman and CEO)

José Doncel has served in numerous leadership roles in the banking industry, including service on boards of directors and in senior management. He has served as a senior executive of Banco Santander, S. A. and certain predecessor companies since 1993, most recently as Senior Executive Vice President and Director of the Accounting and Control division from October 2014 to July 2025; as Senior Executive Vice President and Director of the Corporate Division of Internal Audit from June 2013 to October 2014, as Senior Executive Vice President and Director of the Retail Banking Management Control Area from April 2013 to June 2013, and as Senior Executive vice-president and Chief Accounting Officer of Banesto from April 1994 to April 2013. Prior to his time with Santander, he worked for Arthur Andersen Auditores, S. A., Division of Financial Institutions.

He currently serves as a member of the Board of Santander Spain and of the Board of Santander Chile. Also serves as Chairman of Banco de Albacete, S.A., Grupo Empresarial Santander, S.L., Ablasa Participaciones, S.L., and Finsantusa, S.L.U., and as a member of the Boards of Santander Holding Internacional, S.A., Santusa Holding, S.L., and Santander Global Technology and Operations, S.L. and Santander Group Properties, S. L. U. Also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Deposit Guarantee Fund (Fondo de Garantía de Depósitos) representing the Spanish Banking Association (AEB – Asociación Española de Banca).

José Doncel holds a degree in Economic and Business Sciences from Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
