Behind on your payments?

If you’re behind on your mortgage payments or are experiencing financial difficulty, please speak to our specialist team on 0345 835 3374. We’re here from 8am - 7:30pm Monday to Friday (except bank holidays) and 8am - 12:30pm on Saturdays.

Before you apply

  • You’ll need a form of photo ID, such as a passport or driving license.
  • If you’re Armed Forces or have Tied Accommodation, you’ll need proof of employment. If you bought your home through a scheme, such as Help to Buy or Shared Ownership, then you’ll need confirmation from the scheme provider that they’re happy for you to let the property out. We may also talk to them to assist with approval for letting the property.
  • If you’ve changed your name but haven’t let us know yet, then please provide proof of your new name before applying. You can see what we’ll accept as proof of name change in our Help and Support pages by searching 'change name’.
  • If you want to let your home permanently, then a Buy to-Let mortgage may be a more suitable for your needs. To talk to us about this, please call 0800 056 1088 between 8:30am - 6pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays)

Your home may be repossessed if you don’t keep up with your mortgage payments.

Other things you should know

  • With consent to let, you cannot usually take additional borrowing unless it’s for essentials repairs or change the mortgage rate you’re on whilst you are letting your home. This does not apply to Armed Forces personnel or if you have Tied Accommodation.
  • If we give our consent to let your property, this will usually be for 18 months at a time and up to a maximum of 2 times. You will need to reapply if you want to let the property again.
  • If you wish to let the property after the second time consent to let has been granted, you may need to speak with a Mortgage Expert to consider transferring to a Buy to Let mortgage.
  • All renewals are subject to the terms and conditions at the time of application and a fee may be charged.
  • You should make sure that you have appropriate insurance in place whilst your home is being let e.g. Landlord’s insurance.
  • If you let your home without our consent you will be in breach of your mortgage conditions.
