How does it work?

Making payments in shops

Follow these 6 steps to start making in-store purchases with Apple Pay.

  1. Look for stores displaying the Apple Pay or contactless symbol

  2. Check the transaction amount on the terminal or with the cashier - this won't show up on your device

  3. If you're happy, just hold your device close to the shop's contactless reader - Apple Pay will activate automatically

  4. Put your finger on the Home button to activate Touch ID on your iPhone or double-click the side button on your Apple Watch

  5. To pay with Face ID, just double-click the side button on your iPhone, glance at your screen, then hold it near the reader. If you’re wearing a mask, you may be prompted to enter your passcode. With Touch ID, hold your iPhone near the reader with your finger on Touch ID.

  6. And with a subtle vibration and a beep, your transaction's complete

Making payments in apps

Whenever you want to pay with Apple Pay within an app, select Apple Pay as your payment method and place your finger on Touch ID if your device has it. Done.

Where can I use it?
