£800,000 boost for nearly 500 local charities and causes

TSB Bank has donated more than £824,000 to local charities and other causes across Britain in the past year. This includes money raised from the bank's colleagues, customers and other community fundraisers, as well as a contribution from TSB.

The majority of this donation boosted nearly 500 local charities, which are part of TSB's 'Local Charity Partner' programme. The programme empowers all TSB branches and offices to choose a local cause that matters to them, their customers and their communities. This is instead of having a central 'charity of the year', which is common and typical of large organisations.

Bola Gibson, Head of Community Engagement at TSB, said: "I'm really proud of the amount of money raised for local charities and I look forward to continuing this strong start into 2016. Having a healthy and vibrant local charity and social enterprise sector is essential for building healthy and vibrant communities."

Thanking all the fundraisers

From hospices and food banks to youth cafés, TSB's Local Charity Partners are a diverse group of organisations. To thank everyone for their support, a short video has been filmed featuring some of 2015's highlights.

TSB colleagues also volunteered over 4,400 hours of their time in 2015 supporting local causes with their time and skills.

Notes to editors

TSB was created to bring more competition to British banking - to be a real challenger to the big banks and to deliver the kind of banking the people of Britain want. TSB only serves local customers and local businesses, to help fuel local economies, because communities thriving across Britain is a good thing for all of us.
