TSB Bank will offer its customers access to Apple Pay, a new category of service that transforms mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay.
Almost four million TSB customers will be able to link their debit and credit cards to Apple Pay and make secure payments in stores and within apps. An official launch date for TSB will be announced later this year.
Security and privacy is at the core of Apple Pay. When you add a credit or debit card to Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorised with a one-time unique dynamic security code, instead of using the security code from the back of your card
Ashley Machin, TSB's Chief Digital Officer, said:"The launch of Apple Pay is what we've been waiting for - not just for people like me who are into their gadgets - but also for customers who want a better banking experience.
"We want to make banking with TSB quick, simple and always on demand for our customers. TSB understands that our customers want to bank when they want, how they want and from where ever they want, which is why TSB is focused on making banking even more convenient for them.
"Allowing TSB customers access to Apple Pay through their debit and credit cards is just another example of TSB providing the services customers want, local banking on demand without the funny stuff.
"Using Apple Pay with your TSB credit or debit card promises to be simple."
Apple Pay is easy to set up and users will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by credit and debit cards. In stores, Apple Pay works with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch. When paying for goods and services within apps, Apple Pay is compatible with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.

Notes to editors
TSB was created to bring more competition to British banking - to be a real challenger to the big banks and to deliver the kind of banking the people of Britain want. TSB only serves local customers and local businesses, to help fuel local economies, because communities thriving across Britain is a good thing for all of us.
We have a simple, straightforward and transparent banking model and make clear on our website how we operate and make money. We offer the products and services people tell us they want, with none of the funny stuff people normally associate with traditional banks.
Our 4.6 million customers, award winning mobile and digital banking, nationwide network of branches and 8,500 Partners mean we are big enough to make a difference, but small enough to be an agile challenger to the entire market.
