Introducing the Do What Matters Plan – Debbie Crosbie
When I joined TSB as CEO, I was immediately impressed by the tremendous enthusiasm and commitment of our people to support local communities and to drive diversity and inclusion in our ranks.
By the end of 2019, we had developed a new business purpose for TSB Money Confidence. For everyone. Every day. And a three-year strategy for growth. This provided the platform to consider our wider responsibilities to society and to consult and research internally and externally.
Over the past six months, the Executive Team has shaped what we need to do now to enhance our social and environmental contribution. Covid-19 meant that we had to quickly turn much of the theory into practice and reaffirm our collective belief, that TSB needs to deliver more than just commercial performance.
The Do What Matters plan is the starting point for this work. It’s named after one of the behaviours that underpin our purpose. And colleagues have shaped our plans since we first shared our framework with them three months ago.
It builds on the good work we have been doing for some time, but also focuses our efforts on areas where we are rightly expected to do more. Helping our customers be more money confident, small businesses to thrive and reducing our impact on the environment. In my view, businesses that take responsibility for how they operate and what they contribute to broader society will endure.
It is critical for all of us to think beyond today and consider what TSB contributes to the communities we operate in and the difference we can make.
The Do What Matters plan sets high standards for the way we operate and I’m delighted that we’re the first Bank to be accredited by the Good Business Charter highlighting the responsible way TSB is run
As well as galvanising our efforts across TSB, the plan will also inspire us to do more with other organisations. We’re considering a number of strategic partnerships, that would complement our work, extend our reach and help us to make more people Money Confident.
TSB is a business with a history of helping communities to thrive. Over the coming years, we will grow our business, contribute to the UK economy, and do what matters for wider society.
It’s a plan that we should all be proud of. The hard work to deliver it starts now.
