You’ll need to have your policy number to hand.

Remember, there are no fees or excess to pay for using your Legal services cover – it won’t count as a claim on your home insurance policy so your No Claims discount won’t be affected.

We will confirm:

  • your legal rights
  • the options available to you
  • if you need a lawyer or you can take action yourself
  • if your issue can be covered under the Legal Services cover taken out with us

You will be provided with a lawyer specialising in the law relating to your claim. You don’t have to find your own lawyer but you’re free to choose one to represent you (although conditions apply, including that they must accept the terms of appointment).

The likelihood of winning your case will be assessed by the lawyer, known as ‘Prospects of Success’.

Legal costs and expenses paid up to £50,000 if the lawyer believes you’re more likely than not to win your case and pursues it for you.

The lawyer will try to resolve your case with the other side. However, if a resolution isn’t reached the case may go to a court which will decide an outcome. You may have to attend and give evidence.

Continued legal fees will be paid if the prospects of success remain in your favour.
