Our Charity account is tailor-made for charities registered with one of the charity commissions in the United Kingdom.

We’ll give you free day-to-day banking when you’re in credit and a team of specialists to help you. And for larger charities^ an experienced relationship manager is on hand to support you, so you can spend less time on administration and more time on raising funds.

* For balances over £5,000. AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate, which shows what the interest rate would be if interest was paid and compounded once each year. Gross rate is the contractual rate of interest payable before income tax is taken off. Interest is calculated daily and paid monthly.
^ A relationship manager is available for charities with an annual turnover of £500,000 or more.

We don't make any charges on our Charity account
so all day-to-day banking is free, which means:

  • Paying in or taking out cash
  • Paying in or issuing cheques
  • Paying standing orders and direct debits
  • Using a debit card to make a purchase or ATM withdrawal
  • Unlimited deposits and withdrawals

All we ask is that you keep your account within agreed limits, like not going overdrawn.

You can pay in cash and cheques at any Post Office counter. Payments take an additional business day to reach us.

Some additional services like CHAPS payments carry fees and you may be charged for these. Details of these services and charges can be found in the Your account charges explained brochure.

Check you're eligible

When you apply you need to confirm that:

  • You require the account for a Not-For-Profit organisation
  • Your organisation is a charity registered with one of the charity commissions in the United Kingdom
  • Your organisation is not a Trust
  • You are aged 18 or over
  • You are resident in the UK (one party in your application must live in the UK)
  • You have read the Terms and Conditions
