There are various reasons why you might find yourself alone on Christmas day. Maybe you’ve moved to the other side of the country (or world!) and haven’t made friends yet. Maybe an argument has seen you banned from the family home. Or maybe you’re the Grinch.
Whatever the reason, it need not be all doom and gloom. In fact, many people out there may envy you. Socialising can be stressful and sometimes even a chore. Here are simple ideas on how to keep yourself occupied during the festive season, however, if the sads do set in.

Cook (or don’t cook!) exactly what you want
You have no one else’s tastes, input or allergies to worry about – so don’t. Don’t do the whole turkey and roast vegetables if it’s not your favourite. Throw together a seafood platter for something exotic yet sumptuous and easy. Charcuterie boards can be simple and save on the washing up. Or better still make something like a curry or Middle Eastern dish loaded with garlic. Great for you, delicious and you’re not going to be offending anyone with your breath. Or you could go out to eat!
Listen to what you want
With no kiddies around don’t feel you have to pump out the Christmas tunes. Download an album or two that you’ve been dying to listen to for ages but haven’t got around to. Or seek out those old favourites from years ago. Close the curtains, pour yourself a drink and do your best dancing or play air guitar. It’s liberating.
Watch what you want
This is the perfect opportunity for a box-set binge or to watch the films you haven’t had time to see all year. Think comedies, thrillers or something set somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit.
Read what you want

Move as much as you want
Everyone else is getting fat today, but you don’t have to. Go out for a jog, do a workout at home or even a yoga video. Rug up and go for a walk and take advantage of the peace and quiet. The endorphin rush will do you the world of good.
