    • Secure log on -  making your log on specific to you, by using random characters and drop-down menus.
    • Disable account -  we will temporarily disable your account if there are a number of incorrect log on attempts in case fraudsters are trying to guess your details.

We take your online safety seriously, which is why we use a leading edge security and anti-fraud system to help us make sure the person setting up the payment on your account is you.

When you set up a new payment, we'll give you a call to ensure that the instruction is coming from you.

    Step-by-step payment security:

    1. All you need is a telephone near you. You'll be able to choose which number we call you on, provided it's a number we already hold for you.
    2. You'll receive an automated call asking you to confirm details about your transaction.
    3. Then you'll need to enter a four digit number that will appear on your screen into your telephone keypad.

The whole process takes less than a minute and you can see it on our demo .

Please make sure your contact details are up-to-date: log on to Internet Banking, then select Personal Details from the left-hand menu.

We strongly recommend that you use an anti-virus solution on your computer and keep this up-to-date. Running and keeping this type of software up-to-date can help protect your computer from viruses and malicious software (malware).

    Identity Theft

Here are a few recommendations to help reduce the chance of identity theft.

    • Use different PINs and passwords for each account or application, and never tell anyone what they are.
    • Avoid using the 'auto complete' option when completing forms online. The software is easy for thieves to access.
