TSB to boost local independent charities with an estimated £300,000 of fundraising in 2015

TSB is taking a new approach to supporting local communities by calling for independent charities and social enterprises to be nominated as one of the Bank's Local Charity Partners for 2015.  

Instead of having a centrally chosen Charity of the Year, TSB's Partners are empowered to recognise local causes which share the Bank's passion for helping local communities thrive.  By becoming a Charity Partner, these local causes could get a share of an estimated £300,000 of fundraising by the end of the year. 

Over the coming weeks, TSB branches across Britain will be advertising locally for customers, Partners and members of the public to nominate charities and social enterprises, which they believe should benefit from regular fundraising activity.  Nominated charities, which meet the eligibility criteria, will then be entered into a random draw and given a fair chance of being selected. 

In addition to fundraising activities, TSB will also be encouraging its Partners to spend a day when they would normally be working, out in their community supporting their Charity Partner with their time and / or skills.  The chosen charity will also receive a £100 donation from TSB to kick-start the Partnership.

Nigel Gilbert, TSB's Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, said :  "Unlike other banks, our business and social purpose are one and the same - we're all about Local Banking for Britain and we're here to help fuel local economies.  That's why we're launching a new approach to how we support charity and community.

"We're not simply going to support a single, national charity this year.  Instead, we want our Partners to support a local independent charity or cause which matters to them and their local community.  TSB's Partners' time and effort, coupled with fundraising efforts of almost a third of a million pounds, will make a real difference."

In 2014, TSB's Partners raised nearly £290,000 for charities across the UK by holding fundraising events such as cake sales, raffles and sponsored activities.
