Our cover does not include damage caused by chewing, scratching, tearing or fouling by domestic animals. We also do not cover damage caused by the Buildings or Contents being hit by domestic animals.

Our Buildings, Contents, Student Contents and Starter Contents includes cover for vandalism or malicious damage as standard. You would also be covered under our Gadget, Bike, Sports Equipment and Personal Items covers as standard. You need to report any incident to the police as soon as possible and get a crime reference number.

Having buildings insurance means that the costs of rebuilding, repair, loss or damage will be covered by your insurer if something unfortunate happens like a fire.

If your home is mortgaged, you'll also need buildings insurance to protect your mortgage provider's interest in your home.

There are 2 ways that you can cover your bikes through TSB Pick and Protect home insurance.

  • Through Contents cover, your bikes will be covered within the home, outbuildings and boundary of your property up to the limit shown on your policy schedule.
  • Alternatively, you can choose our Bike cover to protect all your household's bikes both in the home and away from it, anywhere in the world.

Insurance for all clothing and linen is included as standard under our Contents cover, although clothes are not covered for accidental damage.

Our Contents cover does cover you for loss or damage to items in the garden. You can also extend this cover by selecting the Contents Accidental Damage cover enhancement.

With our Contents cover you'll benefit from £5,000 worth of cover for some elements of business use in the home, for example office administration work or child-minding from home.

You can increase this cover by selecting the Working from Home cover enhancement within our Contents cover.

Student Contents is a standalone cover that enables students to protect their things while they're living away from home in rented or private accommodation, including halls of residence.

Student Contents Extension is available as an add-on to our Contents cover. It's ideal for families with children in full-time education living away from home, as it covers their possessions in private or rented accommodation, including halls of residence.

Having Contents cover gives you peace of mind that if something happened to your contents and they need to be replaced, you wouldn't need to replace the items yourself.

We do not cover mechanical breakdown of gadgets apart from mobile phones which are outside their manufacturer warranty period

Through our Home Emergency cover a tradesperson will repair an emergency loss of essential services in your home, eg water, heating, electricity.

This won't cover you for the repair of any items which are damaged due to wear and tear or for domestic appliances.

Under our Contents cover, golf clubs are covered within the home, outbuildings and the boundary of your property.

To cover your golf clubs for accidental damage in the home you would need to select our Buildings Accidental Damage as a cover enhancement.

To cover your golf clubs for loss or damage in and away from the home, you'll need Sports Equipment cover.

To cover your golf clubs for accidental damage whilst in use you would need to select our Sports Plus optional enhancement under the Sports Equipment cover

Your spectacles are covered in the home under Contents cover.

To cover them for accidental damage in the home you would need to select our Contents Accidental Damage as a cover enhancement.

If you would like to cover them in and away from the home you'll need Personal Items cover.

Personal items are things that you normally wear or carry with you like:

  • Clothing
  • Luggage
  • Spectacles
  • Money
  • Musical instruments.
  • Jewellery

 

This doesn't include mobile phones or other portable electronic devices - you would need Gadget cover for this. It also doesn't include bikes - you would need our Bike cover for that.

Although our Contents cover protects your jewellery from theft or damage in the home, it doesn't cover you if you lose it.

To cover your jewellery against loss anywhere in the world, you would need to take out Personal Items cover. For exclusions and conditions that may apply, please see the policy document.

You can cover the money that you carry with you through our Personal Items cover. This includes any money that you take with you while travelling, anywhere in the world. For exclusions and conditions that may apply, please see the policy document.

The first thing you should do is check what you consider to be your valuables against our list of defined valuables. For everything that's on that list, estimate the value of each item and add these figures up for a total value. This is the sum that you should insure your valuables for.

Valuables are your jewellery, watches, furs, works of art, items of gold, silver or other precious metals and stamp, coin or medal collections.

If your valuables in the home don't fall under this list, then you don't need to specify them on your policy.

If you consider something to be a valuable but it isn't on our list, that means that you don't need to specify it on your policy. We only require you to specify items in the home that are on our valuables list and over the individual item limit. Please see the policy document for the individual limit on your cover.

No your insurance will not be affected. We won't cover your lodger's belongings and your policy excludes theft, attempted theft and malicious damage by paying guests.

Yes. You should contact us on 0345 030 8778 to let us know about any changes to the information you have given us. You should do this so you continue to get the cover you need and so this doesn't affect any claims you make.

There are a few different ways that you can cover your hearing aids:

  • Choose Contents cover and you can add on Contents Accidental Damage to protect your hearing aids against accidents at home.
  • Personal Items cover provides protection for things like hearing aids both in and away from the home.

Yes but if you live in accommodation you share with people who are not your relatives and have Contents or Starter Contents, only the contents that you personally own will be covered. You can name one of the people that you live with on your policy as a joint policyholder so that their contents are covered too but you can't add more than one policyholder.

For covers other than Contents or Starter Contents, there are no restrictions on the insurance you will be provided with because your home is shared accommodation.

Home Emergency cover is for when you have an emergency that you are unable to resolve yourself like having a blocked drain or if you are locked out of your home.

Starter Contents is when you don't need all the cover offered by Contents cover or don't want to insure all of your possessions.

In some circumstances we may not be able to provide you with cover. However we can refer you to another provider that may cover you for your needs if you call us on 0345 030 8769.

Protected No Claim Discount ensures that your no claims discount won't be reduced and that your premium won't be affected if you make a claim. You will only be eligible for this if you have 5 years no claims discount, been claim free for 3 years and have selected an excess of £100 or more.

You can have a maximum of 2 named policyholders, one being the main policyholder and one being a joint policyholder. The main policy holder should be a person who is named on the mortgage, lease or tenancy agreement.
