Classic Plus and Classic current accounts

Our Classic Plus and Classic current accounts offer you quick and easy everyday banking.

Our new Plus Account is not like other bank accounts

It’s an unusually generous bank account and it’s different in five main ways:

  1. We’re giving you 5% AER/4.89% gross variable on balances up to £2,000, the highest interest rate available from a high street bank. Other banks offer high introductory rates, known as ‘teaser rates’, which they take away after their initial period.
  2. We ask that you put a minimum of £500 per month into your account to continue getting interest. Other banks insist you pay anything from £750 to £1000 per month.
  3. We ask that you register online for paperless statements (and correspondence when available)  and then let you transact in branch, online, or on the phone, whichever is most convenient.
  4. We’re happy for you to ‘try before you buy’ so you can see how it feels being a TSB customer. Other banks insist you move your standing orders and direct debits before they’ll give you their special deals.
  5. We’re offering this account to existing as well as new customers.

And if you want to move your whole account to TSB, our dedicated switching team can transfer it in just seven working days.

We do not pay interest on balances above £2,000.

  • Free banking  - no charge for everyday transactions when you’re in credit.
  • Manage your money 24 hours a day through  Internet Banking, Telephone Banking and  Mobile Banking.
  • Money Planner is a free, easy-to-use Internet Banking service that introduces a new way of keeping track of your money across your TSB personal current and credit card accounts.
  • £25 interest-free planned overdraft‡. (Subject to application and approval).
  • £10 overdraft buffer. No overdraft fees or interest to pay if you go overdrawn (either Planned or Unplanned) by £10 or less.
  • Grace period if you go over your limit. You have until 3.30pm (UK Time) to pay in enough money to avoid any overdraft fees you may incur that day.
  • Switching to us is easy - We can help to move Direct Debits and standing orders from any existing accounts to your TSB current account.
  • Access to over 600 branches and a network of ATM's worldwide

New to TSB?
Applying for a new current account takes around ten minutes and you’ll need the following details to hand:

- Your income including pensions, investments and benefits
- Your addresses and postcodes for the past three years
- Name and address of your employer

You can also sign up for our helpful Text Alert services, which can let you know:

  • Your balance once a week
  • If any transactions have taken place overseas
  • If you’re close to your spending limit
  • If you get close to your high or low balance limits
